After awakening to the first fall frost this morning, I am mentally preparing myself for cooler days ahead; I’m not quite physically prepared, however, as I sit here with my computer and cozy, heated blanket in my lap. As a perpetually cold person, I need a lot of help in the heat department and was very grateful to be gifted the Action Heat Battery Heated Throw Blanket.
OVERVIEW
The Action Heat Throw blanket is on the smaller side (31.5″ x 55″). It’s also super lightweight–just barely a pound with the battery pack–making it ideal to throw in a backpacking or hunting pack. It also comes with a stuff bag to make it more compact.
A slim 7V battery pack fits neatly in the blanket’s zipper pocket and provides 135-degree F. heat for 3+ hours on the high setting, 120-degree F. for 4.5 hours on the medium setting, and 102-degree F. heat for 5.5 hours on the low setting. It heats up quickly, and the setting is easily adjustable with a touch button located by the zipper pocket. The button lights up a different color for each setting, but the light can be turned off by pressing the side “ghost mode” button, if desired.
The blanket also features weather-resistant ActionFlex material with built-in heating panels through the center of the blanket. It uses FAR infrared heating and ActionWave heat reflective technology to provide warmth and comfort in a tidy little package. It comes with the 7V Power Bank and charger. The company recommends storing the battery pack with at least 25% charge when not in use.
Final verdict
Overall, I really like the Action Heat battery heated throw blanket for its lightweight size, convenient features, and user-friendliness. I whipped it out during a recent camping trip and sat on it like a heating pad and wrapped the rest of it over my legs. However, I wouldn’t complain if there were a few more heated panels in the blanket and more color options.
While the heated throw’s convenient size works great for smaller people and throwing in a pack, for bigger people I’d recommend Action Heat Indoor/Outdoor Camping Blanket for general use and camping.
